When the Combined Naval Event (CNE) returns to the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre this week, it brings together thousands of senior naval leaders, government officials and industry representatives.
For us at RS Aqua, this trade show is an opportunity to unpack our AUV capabilities as demonstrated at REPMUS and share how SEABER’s micro‑AUVs are redefining defence training.
REPMUS – collaboration and capability
Each year REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems) takes place in Portugal and it’s supported by NATO, the EDA, CMRE and other partners, brings together cutting edge technology and defence forces to focus on capability development and interoperability.
Back in 2024, our Ocean Systems Technician, John Peters, spent a week representing RS Aqua with a collection of our micro autonomous underwater vehicles. The star of the show was SEABER’s RECALL micro AUV, a compact, recoverable vehicle originally derived from the popular YUCO AUV and specifically developed for ASW (Anti Submarine Warfare).
Meet SEABER – innovators in micro AUV technology
SEABER, our key supplier of AUVs (Autonomous Unmanned Vehicle) meets the demands of the defence industry with their highly specialised RECALL.
The RECALL is equipped with such programmes as being able to mimic submarine acoustic signatures across multiple training modes including passive, active or combined acoustics.
When SEABER saw a gap in the defence market for a small, recoverable training target, they launched the RECALL micro‑AUV in 2022. RECALL is designed as a training target capable of reproducing submarine noise and motion.
