The European Cetacean Society (ECS) convenes once a year in a European country, alternating between southern and northern Europe as much as possible, with invited international authorities, talks and posters. The main conference theme changes every year.
The Society for Marine Mammalogy (SMM) holds biennial international conferences with the goal of enhancing collaboration, sharing ideas, and improving the quality of research on marine mammals within the scientific community.
In December 2019, SMM and ECS will join together for a World Marine Mammal Science Conference that will take place in Barcelona, Spain. The conference will bring together scientists, managers, policymakers, educators and students from across the globe to discuss the world’s most exciting science and most pressing conservation issues.
