Maritime Autonomous Systems are of increasing importance to a wide range of sectors, including marine science, hydrography, offshore energy, maritime transport and maritime defence & security.
The aim of MAChallenge is to encourage young technologists working in marine robotics to develop careers that contribute to the future of the UK’s Marine Autonomous Systems Industry.
The competition will be based around undergraduate teams testing their ability to build and integrate autonomous systems and behaviours into an unmanned marine surface vehicle. Teams must be 5 in number and affiliated with a UK university.
The MAChallenge will have two phases. In Phase 1 applicants will submit a 2 minute video outlining why their team should be selected to compete. Phase 2 will be a series of practical challenges over the weekend of 19 – 21th June 2020 at Calshot activity centre on the Solent. In Phase 2 teams will be provided with a powered catamaran vehicle into which they will integrate controls, sensors and payloads of their own design.
RS Aqua would like to encourage Universities and any up and coming marine scientists and engineers to get involved in MAChallenge!
