Innovasea VR2 receivers operate on the 69 kHz frequency band which is widely used by researchers internationally. They come in two variants: VR2Tx and VR2AR. Both have an internal transmitter for seabed to surface transponding, however the VR2AR has Acoustic Release capabilities.
Key Features
- Extremely durable
- Internal Environmental Sensors
- Acoustic Release Option
- Seabed to Sea Surface Transponding
Innovasea are the world leaders in acoustic telemetry technology for the geographical tracking of animals underwater.
The VR2 receivers interpret and record coded fish tag transmissions when tagged species come within range of the receiver.
The receivers are available with a variety of different capabilities. Both VR2 receivers have built-in transmitters that enable remote communications from the surface with the deployed receivers and have environmental sensors (e.g. temperature, tilt, noise and signal strength).
The VR2AR also has an integrated acoustic release mechanism which allows for completely sub-surface moorings and easy recover of the unit. We have designed our ARC system to aid with this recovery
To communicate with the VR2 receivers whilst deployed, you will need the VR100 surface command box
The VR2AR-X is a long-life version of the acoustic release and is capable of up to 26 month deployments.
We recommend updating your VR2 receivers to GEN2 as soon as possible to ensure full compatibility with previous, current and future Innovasea tags. Please find the Gen2 Datasheet here
Note: The 69 kHz VR2W receiver has now been discontinued
