RS Aqua Orca
Multichannel subsea acoustic recorder.
The Orca is an extremely high specification subsea acoustic recorder that accommodates up to 5 hydrophone channel inputs. It is suitable for real time marine mammal and noise pollution monitoring, and noise source localisation.
Key Features
- Multiple selectable sample rates up to 384 kHz
- Real time data streaming
- On board statistical noise analysis (for 24 or 48 kHz sample rates)
Orca is a high specification underwater acoustic data recorder and signal processor. With multiple input channels and extremely high sampling rates, Orca can be used to capture, record and process the richest underwater data sets possible in real-time.
Orca is straight forward and easy to configure, deploy and use. It’s also flexible enough for almost any underwater acoustic measurement scenario. Current applications for these instruments include underwater noise characterisation, marine mammal studies, underwater noise detection and localisations.
Data can be recorded and processed autonomously or streamed in real time via Ethernet.
The Orca product family is available in several different form factors, both supporting 5 synchronously sampled hydrophone inputs, with configurable sampling rates up to 384 kHz on all 5 channels. Whilst deployed the Orca can autonomously process sound pressure level (SPL) data to standards required by the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive. The processed and raw data can be streamed over Ethernet or stored on up to 4 TB of internal solid state memory (SD and SSD).
The Orca is available in 2 different sizes: the Orca-72D and the Orca-Ace. The larger Orca-72D houses 72 D-cell batteries (alkaline or lithium) and is suitable for long term deployments of months or years. The Orca-Ace is much lighter and smaller and contains a rechargeable lithium battery for repeated deployments over days or weeks.
